Environmental Pledge

Introduction

Swim on the Wild Side Ltd is a company running outdoor coached swims throughout the Lake District. The sensitive ecosystems of the Lake District are being threatened by invasive non-native freshwater plants and animals, and by pollution.

Swim on the Wild Side will constantly monitor the environmental impact of our activities and strive to reduce this to an absolute minimum by complying with all relevant legislation and requirements, and by informing our clients of ways in which the World Heritage Site can be protected for future generations.

All associates employed by Swim on the Wild Side Ltd will share this responsibility to ensure that our Environmental Policy is adhered to at all times.

Our Code

How will we do this?

  • On arrival and departure at a swim site, we will remove any litter - including items which have been left others - and dispose of this in a responsible manner
  • We will not pollute the waters with any solid or liquid effluent, detergent or biological material brought from any other source
  • We will seek to use only suppliers who respect this policy
  • We will report to the relevant authorities any breach of environmental protection measure which we become aware of
  • We will report to the relevant authority the presence of any non-native species which we encounter
  • When leaving a swim site, we will ensure that we do not inadvertently take non-native species with us, and we will advise our clients on the correct way to clean equipment at the end of a swim

OPEN WATER COACHING

OPEN WATER COACHING

This can be anything from a one off session while you're on holiday in the Lake District to a more of a structured course to help transform your stroke over a period of time.

Swim on the Wild Side is the Lake District's only swimming holiday operator offering fully coached activities with a qualified and experienced coach.

All of our swims are fully risk assessed, insured and we abide by the strict environmental rules laid down by the Lake District National Park, following the 'Ditch the Hitchers' campaign.
