Like all good responsible businesses, Swim on the Wild Side, take your safety as our top priority, while still ensuring everyone enjoys themselves.
Each swim we coach has been fully risk assessed prior to arrival and all locations have Emergency Action Plans in place and are fit for purpose. A dynamic risk assessment will take place upon arrival at every venue before entry to the water and should Swim on the Wild Side’s staff feel the conditions are not safe for the swim to take place for any reason, Swim on the Wild Side have the right to cancel. This is not something we take lightly and we would always seek other venues if possible, however sometimes it simply isn’t safe to continue and we will not put you at risk.
You are acknowledging, by taking part in a Swim on the Wild Side swim, that open water swimming contains an intrinsic level of risk that is impossible to remove.
We check the weather forecast from the Met Office every morning to ensure there are no risks building up during the day ahead.
In a drybag at the swim location given out prior to the swim, there will be a Mobile Phone, First Aid Kit, Survival Bag and any client medication previously supplied to ourselves.
Before each swim, guests will be briefed on the location and duration of the swim, the safe entry and exit points, specific hazards associated with each venue and emergency procedures.
Guests will make clear to Swim on the Wild Side, their intentions for the swim, and expected duration.
Safety cover for each individual swim will vary depending on the venue, the numbers of guests, and the prevailing water conditions. Swim on the Wild Side reserve the right to cancel any swim for any safety reason.
