The BREXIT Swim Challenge

Challenge yourself to some of the best open water swimming in the United Kingdom – all in one day!
4km in 4 lakes in 4 countries in 1 day
Llyn Tegid · Ullswater · Loch Ken · Lough Neagh

On arriving in Carlisle you will be whisked off to Bala in Wales for a fantastic meal at Plas Yn Dre prior to your first swim, whose menu showcases the high standard of locally produced meats and ingredients. Walking down to the lake (Llyn Tegid) and viewing the first 4km of the tour will allow our stomachs to fully recover before midnight approaches and we are faced with the moonlight swim, remembering the Full Moon had only been four days previously. On completion of this swim and a hot cup of coffee/tea we will then set off for Ullswater. As this is the longest drive of the day it would be a great idea to try and get some sleep prior to our arrival at Pooley Bridge for the English section of this tour.

We are hoping to start our second swim at 06:00 in the beautiful Ullswater within the Lake District, which has recently being awarded World Heritage status. Here we will swim a 4km loop in the northern end of the lake while most of the country is still just wakening up. Afterwards we will head off for a Full English breakfast to replenish our bodies of the much required calories before our trip into Scotland.

Loch Ken is situated deep in the Galloway Forest in South West Scotland and due to the shape of the loch and activity on the day, we will seek the advice of the local activity centre prior to our swim to get the best out of it. Moving on to catch the ferry at Cairnryan we will stop off at Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre for a coffee and cake en route.

Once on board the ferry we will all sit down to a meal and a rest during our two hour crossing before disembarking for our final swim in Lough Neagh. Hopefully this swim will still be within daylight hours, especially with 21 June being the longest day and twilight ending at almost 23:00. Once complete we will travel on to the hotel, Hilton Belfast Templepatrick Golf & Country Club (it has a swimming pool!), for supper before crawling into bed for a much needed sleep.

In the morning after breakfast we plan to go as a party into Belfast city centre and board a Belfast City Sightseeing Hop-on / Hop-off Open-top bus tour, which should give you a great feel for the history of the city including stops such as the Titanic, Stormont Parliament Buildings, Belfast City Hall, Falls Road and Shankhill Road to name but five of the 23 stops included.

Lunch will be at the much coveted Holohan's Pantry in the centre of the city, after which the afternoon is yours to do what you like.

In the evening we plan to have a very relaxed meal at the hotel to celebrate the amazing achievement of you all.

There are only 16 places on this tour, so book early to avoid disappointment.
